Ninety five and a half -- that is how old Grandma Zina is. Her siste, Harriet, lived to be 101. I think it is fitting to post about Zina Nutter on my birthday. When she was a girl growing up in Kanab, Utah she didn't like freckles so she wore a hat nearly everyday. She has always loved to have her picture taken and wears a little plastic tiara on her birthday each year. She also thought it was a good idea to build an investment house in Mesquite, Nevada six years ago when she was just 90. It has doubled in value. Ninety five is 58 more birthdays away for me. This morning I tried my best to talk Xanny into swapping me birthdays. He could be five tomorrow and I would buy myself several more months of youthful glow. He didn't bite. He said he's enjoying four and three quarters too much for the time being.
I thought about at what point birthdays are no longer fun. Maybe it is that my Honey is far away in DC. Maybe it is my new batch of grey hair. Maybe it is just the heat -- also 95.7. Then I thought about Grandma Zina and my genetic potential for 58 more of these things. I am almost convinced to follow her example and get myself a new pink dress from Walmart and plastic tiara, find some one to take my picture with a handful of Utah roses to send to my long distance boyfriend. Now I just wish I had figured all this out years ago and worn a hat every day of my childhood to avoid freckles. So, here's to happy birthdays (damn it.)

Happy Happy Birthday Andi dear!
I wish I were still in Utah so I could come and give you a birthday tiara. But alas, I am in Houston. (I was only in Utah 4 days).
I am so glad you were born. You make the world brighter, happier and more beautiful!

Happy Birthday! I'm going to call you.
Alisa & Cindy! -- no truer friends can a girl ever have. Thanks for the Happy Birthday. It was just another day in paradise.
Happy Birthday old gal. I am just the opposite of you. I am now finally enjoying birthdays, I used to hate them up until a few years ago. I dreaded the attention or lack of attention. Now, I love to lengthen the celebration. This year will be a two and a half week birthday for me!!! It gives me excuses to have fun and be silly and do things I wouldn't normally do because I am too frugal and stingy.
Kim - You would like birthdays. That just the kind of girl you are.
