Tonight Marco told me about the first time he heard The Beatles on vinyl. It was 1964 and none other than his mother, Betty Jo the Magnificent, was the crazy radical who bought the album. I am proud to say that today, Marco knows every word to every Beatles tune.

What album should I buy my kids for Christmas? No pressure.

I agree...stick with the classics! (i.e. the ones you can sing to)...although Joni Mitchell has some great tunes as well and how could they grow up without James Taylor?

As long as you don't go for The White Album you can't go wrong. Revolution #9 had me scared spitless as a kid.

Um...when Mark got that album, it was not yet a classic. I say get them some Justin Timberlake or Fergie. Something really in right now, what that is, I don't know.

but the whole genre was new then; everything in rock 'n roll has been done already. maybe some rap? is there kid-friendly rap?

my brother-in-law gets the library of congress folk music cd's from the library. they're good.

Mika! My kids love it..although it deals with all sorts of issues, the "Lollipop" track is played over and over in my home. My favourite is "Big girl".
