I've been doing a lot of walking lately. Everywhere there are pear blossoms. I have one question. What do they smell like to you? (I already know what my sister, Shauna, would say!)
I don't know what "real" pear blossoms smell like, but I had an experience with ornamental pear blossoms that brought an answer to your question immediately to mind. When I was a Primary chorister, I saw a line of beautiful ornamental pear trees in full bloom along Democracy Boulevard. I decided that they most certainly looked like "Popcorn popping on the apricot tree" of a favorite spring Primary song and thought “what a great visual aide”. So Sunday morning, I walked over to the boulevard and clipped a few branches, brought them home, put them in a jar of water and went upstairs to get ready for church. When I came down, I smelled a rotten smell and thought --- “better take out the garbage when I get back from church”. I grabbed the pear branches and stuck them in the back of the car. Not long into the drive, I realized that the nasty smell was coming from the blossoms. Well, not to be deterred from my lesson plan I assumed that the smell would not be so strong in the big Primary room. So I displayed them beautifully in the front of the Primary room and stood to great the children as then entered Primary. Well, a darling CTR 6 walked in and loudly exclaimed “Something smells like fish in here!”. So, Andi….when you asked what do pear blossoms smell like to me….I’d repeat my CTR 6’s assessment…..Fish! That is until I have the chance to smell the kind that actually turn into pears!
I have hay fever so bad right now that I'm not going to smell any blossems on purpose. I did get out of the car on main street the other day and all the oramental trees were in bloom and I was surprised that they smelled yucky. go figure. Thanks for letting us know what Katie is doing. Judy
Did not know that about your Mom wanting to name you Becky. When my Mom was pregnant with me she and my Dad chose my name and then told their best friends who were 5 months further along than my Mom, what they were going to name me if I was a girl. You guess it, they named their daughter Judy first. They still remained good friends. Can't think of anything we need to send over with your Dad. Thanks for asking.

Fish? Really?? I had no idea! I guess I haven't been around pear blossoms for a long time...
What I can't wait for is lillacs--this town explodes with them in late May. For one weekend, Rexburg smells heavenly.

Oh, emily, I knew I could count on you!
Carolyn - I am going to replay that scene in heaven.
ginger - How long have you had this condition?
KJ - I will ask you again in 10 years.
Judy - In the end, I think I am a better Andi then Becky anyway.
