Let me start by saying, I am not a Republican ... but if were I would like to find someone who can give me a statistical analysis of two things.
1. What percentage of the American population over the past 200 years has been part of a conspiracy to turn the federal government over to the rule of the first presidency of the Mormon church?
and ...
2. What percentage of the American population over the past 200 years has DIED by time there 76th birthday rolls around?
It's just a question.
No wonder Rudy "Babyface" Gulliani is so suddenly cozy with McCain. He's from NY. They have ways of taking care of these kinds of elections. I saw Manchurian Candidate.

I am what is called a mugwump - or a fence sitter - I am finding myself thinking that my two top choices are Romney and Obama.
I am thinking these days that the positions the candidates take on issues isn't as important as the character of the candidate - whether one is liberal or conservative isn't as important to me as whether the person has integrity, the mental capacity to juggle the many facets of the hard issues the country is facing, is articulate in such a way that he or she doesn't tick off our allies and can be trusted. Believe it or not - the only two candidates that seem to fit all of these criteria - are Obama & Romney and it is interesting that they also seem to be the most comfortable in their own skins. I'm skeptical enough to believe that the positions they are each stumping will end up be moderated to the middle if either gets the job.
A president has to be a leader first and foremost - the agendas he/she brings to the White House have little chance of being implemented if they can't convince the liberals, conservatives and the vast in the middles that his/her ideas and policies are the best for the country.
Look at what a mess Bush has made and he ran on the basis that he knew how to compromise and bring divergent sides together. Didn't happen - didn't have the aforementioned skills and character to pull it off.
My opinion of the other two front runners is that McCain is a dirty politician, a grumpy old man and doesn't inspire me to follow him - he's milking the POW thing and while surviving is a remarkable and admirable feat - it doesn't really tie into the skills needed to be president - unless you think that there are similarities to being president and a POW (maybe Bush is feeling that there really is some similarities!). Ms. Clinton is also someone I think will do what it takes to win...say anything, do anything and I get the feeling that though smart (smarter than McCain) she kind of reminds me of one of the wicked witches in one of many Disney movies. Hmmmm
I think it is pretty amusing to hear the press analyze the day by day happenings of the campaigns ---someone should make one of those soundbite videos with the song "Blowing in the Wind" playing in the background.
Enough said...now back to painting my home office! Can you tell by my ramble that I'm kind of sick of painting and I've only done the trim - so far. I'm thinking that the carpet fuzz that keeps getting on the baseboards will add texture and I'll tell people that that was the look I was going for!
