Today the cousins had to go home to Ohio. Later Xan asked if for FHE we could make some heart cards and send them to Alex and Ethan. We hope to get together with them again soon.
I have to explain that three of Xanny's heroes are Napoleon Dynamite, Albert Einstein and Abe Lincoln. Today was a special day for him. First we started the day with his Vote for Pedro shirt. Every once in a while everyone should start the day with a Vote for Pedro tee-shirt. (That includes you, Grandma Betty!)
Second, we headed out to see Albert Einstein.
This is one of my favorite memorials. It is ironic that this is also one of the most human and approachable monuments in the city given the nature of Einstein. This makes him look like a gentle senile grandpa with a bed time story ready on his lap for my little children. The "paper" on his lap is engraved with some of the most complicated theorems of the 20th century. Maybe this is reverse psychology to get all those impressionable visiting high school seniors interested in the theory of relativity.

Third, we crossed to the other side of Constitution Ave. and headed to the Lincoln Memorial.
Contrary to Einstein, here we have one of the most human figures in American history stripped of all personality, isolated in an elevated temple of marble - eternally separated from even the meekest of little children by a metal chain. I will post later on another sculpture of Lincoln later.
