Katie the Spider

When Katie the Sister left on a mission we acquired Katie the Spider to replace her. I considered getting Katie the Dog or Katie the Horse but a tarantula seemed like a lot less work. More than a year later I am proud to say Katie the Spider is alive and MOLTING. This morning we woke up to not one but two Katie the Spiders. The real one is on the left. This is only the second time our rose tarantula has molted. Even the inside of their mouth and intestinal tracts molt as they out grow their exoskeleton. Cool, huh?

This is Xanny at the arboretum stalking lizards in the azalea jungle.

The National Arboretum has an amazing bonsai collection that my kids miraculously managed to leave intact just in case anyone else wants to enjoy it. This tree has "been in training" since 1935.

Cool spider! Your blog is a good mix of kid/life/knowledge. Very nice.

Andi,

I noticed the cindy-cloneness, but I didn't really want to comment on it (in case it was a sensitive subject...)

I love the pictures you're posting right now. your kids look great in D.C., but here's the question... can I really come if the market is burned down? what will I do with myself? Other than look at art.

All I can say is it is pretty damn sad. Half the neighborhood skipped work that day in mourning.

Come to DC and eat in my kitchen. It is as good as any 137 year old market. I think there is food in my fridge that old.

If you guys really think I look like baby Z., I'm totally flattered because she's adorable. Let's hope she doesn't get all hairy like me.

Andi, I miss dropping by to eat in your kitchen. How long are guys gonna be in D.C. and don't tell me you're not loving it... out of Prorem at last!

Cindy, you guys have the same haircut, face shape, eyes, etc. Maybe baby could be your pet baby.

p.s. Andi... what's your baby's name now, for reals... Zina, Nina?

and is that "ninah" like the #9-ah?

She's not very hair which is suprising to me concidering her genetics. When I was three years old my older siblings sold tickets for ten cents a piece to their friends just to look at the hair on my back. And Marco . . .that man is a freaking Chia Pet when it comes to body hair.

She does, however, have a darling little mole on her rump that I am tempted to take a picture of and post. However, I figure that would get me flagged by blogger.

Marsha - I quickly changed the subject yesterday when baby asked me to write her name in syrup on her pancake. It is so sad. The truth is I really like Nina (as in #9-ah) and it is just easier to tell people in the grocery store whom I will never see again. But she really is Zina only she can't pronouce her "Z" so it comes out "N". Blah, blah, blah.

PART 2 - Marco says we are unequvically going home in August. I LOVE living here but the boys in the family need Utah and much more grass. Today Xanny said "Hey mom, I have an idea. We could plant some grass INSIDE our house. Then we would have a yard."

PART 3 - Even though the market burned, we still have H&M. Isn't that worth the visit?

About Me
